I bought these boots without seeing them or trying them on. Between this site, Zappos video of the boot & the Born website I felt I had all of the info I needed. These boots are comfortable. What kind of comfortable? Dancing at a wedding comfortable. Walking at an all day fall festival comfy. Walking around the city comfy. The leather is nice and smooth and not too shiny. I was pleased that they fit around my calf comfortably with a bit of room to spare; the circumference stated on the Born site & my calf are close and I was concerned before they arrived, but it fits well. I think that because of the toe the boots have a hint of a western look to them. Cons of the boot...I wear a size 9 and they make my foot look a bit long.
