This seemed to be a well made boot and I liked the overall style, but it could only very loosely be called "black". I appreciate the rustic/worn look of boots, but these are so "distressed" that they aren't even black anymore. They're gray at best, but really the natural tan color of the leather shows through enough you could almost call them brown. The pictures are a fair approximation of what they look like although mine were even slightly less black.Additionally, these boots run HUGE. My closet consists of 9 pairs of size 11 shoes, 2 pairs of 11.5, 2 pairs of 12 (running shoes & sandals), and 1 pair of 10.5 (some ancient Justin roper cowboy boots). I'd read other reviews that these ran long, but I figured an 11 would still be okay. Turns out I wear a 10 in BED STU boots, smaller than anything else I own. That isn't really a big deal if you're trying them on in a store, but if you're ordering shoes online bad sizing is a major pain.
