I purchased these shoes on May 23, 2011. Today is Dec. 14 2012 and I can tell you these shows are still going strong after over a year and a half of 5 days a week daily wear. These are my work shoes and I never alternate until they wear out. I am very impressed with these and am back to buy them again. The sole has not worn through at all around the primary ball of the foot where shoes normally wear prematurely; it is close but not yet. The heel itself is exceptionally durable with only typical wear on the outside rear because of my walking pattern. Another review rated these poorly because they look like duck feet. Well if you pay attention to the pictures and do a little research you know what you are getting. I particularly like this look and have received plenty of complements. Even at size 14 I was a little nervous I would exaggerate this look but it has not bothered me in the least. Because of this style the toe is flattened and sticks out slightly more than plain shoes, so you can expect to get scrapes and scratches around the toe as you get used to them. Good mink oil is necessary on these shows and extends the wear very well. Again that is typical with any leather shoes you buy. I have had no water penetration issues in moderate rain or snow. This is a very breathable shoe which was a surprise since all other leather shoes I have owned taught me to just expect them to be hot and sweaty. I wear two pairs of socks, one no-show white cotton and one colored, therefore, even with this setup I do not sweat at all! However, I do sit at a desk all day and do a minimal amount of walking throughout a typical day. One good habit I have always done is using a shoe horn to put them on. It is not required on these shoes because they have a loose enough fit you can get them on without it. Other shoes are very tight and a shoe horn is needed, not with these shoes. I use a shoe horn to extend the life the top rim of the shoe. Because of this the rim of the shoe has stayed very strong and I have not experienced any falling, crushing or splitting seams which has been a huge plus compared to other shoes.
