I constantly struggle to find boots that fit around my calves. This one is wonderful! I originally ordered a size 9 (E width) and my feet were swimming in it. So I exchanged for a size 8.5 (same width). It's hard to E width so that's probably why I usually wear a slightly larger size. The 8.5 fits perfectly except for being a bit snug around the ankle area. Based on a recommendation from a friend who rides horses, I treated the boots with mink oil (made by Kiwi brand, available in most stores in shoe polish section) to help condition the leather and weatherproof them, and also help them stretch in that area. If that doesn't work, will take them to a local shoe cobbler to have that area stretched. They are expensive (I've NEVER paid that much for shoes or boots) but they are well made and actually fit me well so I splurged. Classy for current trend and will be timeless long after. Would rather spend more for excellence and long-lasting quality.
